Tuned my 2016 F250 6.2
#61
By plugging in they can tell
As a matter of fact in my 2010 6.4 they took the tune out with out asking
Said by state law they had to
So i went back to the shop that put the tune in and they put it back in Cost 40.00
Dealers really hate a tuned truck (at east the ones I have gone to)
No get this I trade the truck and after about 2 months the salesman called me
Says the new owner wants to know why the fuel ecnomy is so bad
I say that their shop must have taken the tune out
They ask if I will bring the tuner back so they can put it back in as the new owner isn't happy at all..

Call it what you want:
Throttle response I can feel? Count me in.
Better shifting and hookup? I'll take it.
400 bucks for that and no loss reliability or longevity? SIGN ME UP.
Again, it's my opinion as well, but I am just sharing how happy I am with it
Every. Single. Time.

As far as the 6.2 nothing major at all. Just little things here and there but really nothing. Now the trans I heard in the 15-16 are not built as strong as the 11-14. I have no clue what's different just going off what I've seen on forums like this and Facebook groups.
Any insights?

Yea something about the internals. I don't know exactly but there isn't as many as they have in the 11-14 trans. I'll see if I can find exactly what it is, but us gassers don't really have to worry about it cause we don't have enough power or tq to break the trans.

I searched around for info on this, but I couldn't find any documented change with the internals, specifically. I think I know what you're thinking of though.. In 15', the diesel got an upgraded turbo, and they gave it an upgraded torque converter too. And although the gassers still have the same transmission as the diesel through16', they might still use the 14's torque converter.
I'd have to guess that the transmissions get their own assembly line, and aren't assembled at the same time as the trucks. Could even be a year or two stocked up ahead of the trucks themselves. just a guess.
And about the tuners.. You guys are sure making me want one! lol. But Ford specifically down tuned the 6.2, to make it last longer. I feel like we're reversing that logic a little bit here... Its to bad ford couldn't just give people their own 93 octane tune on request. They had a 93 octane tune in the 6.2 raptor. Or they at least rated it on 93. 411hp/434tq compared to our 385/405.

Where did you get this info? When the 6.2L first came out, the lead engineer from Ford came on this forum
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...as-engine.html
to answer questions.
Here are the highlights...the ones I payed attention to.
From Mike-V8Ford
I can only compare the 6.2L in SD to the 6.2L in the Raptor. It is essentially the same engine other than the cams (slightly less overlap for a smoother idle).
The 6.2L is 580 lbs
The 6.2L engine has been designed and tested with the Superduty customer duty cycle in mind
The Superduty version is SAE rated on 87 octane (R+M/2) so it is directly comparable to the 401 hp for the raptor. You will pick up power on the 6.2L Superduty with 91 (R+M/2)
He was asked why they derate the super duty HP and his answer.....Compliance with EPA noise requirement

Just did some digging...gas and and Diesel engines use the same trans in the '16. Same part number and build number. So far anyways a torque shift is a torque shift...no idea on a 17. FWIW dealerships can easily spot a tune...even if removed back to stock prior to coming in. Warranty issues will vary

I have a 5 star and have tried all the tunes and no tunes. I don't notice any real mpg impact. However, I rarely just have hwy tanks to compare mpg with. My regular driving is 50/50 town and rural roads. The truck is more responsive with the tunes, my truck seemed to respond best to the 87 daily/tow tune.
