I have this overdrive tranny but have no information about it. Can someone please give me some specifics please:
Years made?
What it was in? (trucks, cars, all of them?)
Is it a 3 speed with 2 speed overdrive?

I've tried to research but couldn't find anything definitive about it.

Thank you,
Ray

Is the input shaft 10-spline? That would make it a 3-sp light duty trans from a '53-on F-100. It appears to have a bracket for the clutch linkage from that era of trucks, too.

Ross is correct. The Ford part number is TAAA 7003-A. If you clean up the bottom of the transmission case you should see 3TA painted on it. The tail section is an R10 Borg Warner overdrive.
Mine came out of a 1953 F100. The parts manual shows is also was available in a 1954.

Yup, 3 speed light duty with single speed overdrive (.70 or 30%, however you want to look at it.) It took me four months to find a decent one and you just trip over one? ;-)

The pictured transmission also has the governor and solenoid. Those two items cost a bit to replace these days. Be careful with them.

OD info: The Borg-Warner Overdrive Transmission Explained- FORDification.com but it doesn't help with identification.
To narrow it's year down check the Governor and Solenoid get the part numbers off of them and Google them to find out if they are 6 or 12 volt. 12 volt = 56 or newer.
Here's a great source for parts: Parts: Borg-Warner Overdrive Parts | Fifth Avenue Internet Garage
