20" wheels on a 1999 F250 Super Duty

I found a set of 20" wheels on CL. I have not purchased them yet but was wondering on fitment issues. They came off a 1999 F250 but it was a 4x4.. I would like to go 20's but want to keep tire and wheel diameter close to stock. I also want to keep my stock tow rating with non aggressive hwy tread tires.

Anybody have 20" wheels on a 2WD Super Duty?

I'd at least check the backspacing- it should be about 4.5". If it's 5.5" like the newer 4x4s require, you may have clearance issues.
I say this 'cause most of the (used) wheels I've looked at lately have been 5.5".

And be ready for a rougher ride since there will only be 5.75" of sidewall between the rim and the road instead of the stock 7.75" of sidewall. I've heard of people being very unhappy going to bigger wheel and stock height tire.

just my 2 cents but, I will never buy wheels and tires off craigslist....I bought a great looking set of fuel wheels with toyo open country a/t's..20" great deal at 800 bucks...well I'm towing my camper to a new job, 20 minutes from home and the wheel breaks in half and breaks all my studs off the rear axle hub...needless to say i had fun replacing studs on the side of the road at midnight...good thing I was close to home and had cell service...les schwab from now on

With my 20's on my X, the ride was a bit rougher (you could feel small imperfections in the road more), but it corners like you're on rails! (well, compared to, say, the Queen Mary!)
And they do look bitchin'.

And do price tires before you jump- the prices are not for the timid!

I have a set of 20's BMF Novakanes with 275/65/20 Michelins on my 03 F-250 4X4, that sits completely stock, and they rub hard when I turn into a drive way or an approach. They hit so bad that over time they tore out the wheel well at the bottom rear edges. So I have a feeling you might have the same issues..
