2007 Explorer third row seat stuck
My third row seats worked several yrs. ago when I bought the truck, but now they will not operate. You can hear the motors trying to turn the "worm gear" but nothing happens, so we know the fuse, switch works. Do these seats give much trouble, if left unused? Will go to dealership tomorrow if some of you folks cannot figure this one out.
Thanks for any help

You need to replace the motor, my left hand side one did it last year. You could hear the motor turning, but the seat did not move. Pretty common problem with them.
The motor costs about $270, need one per side. It's not the hardest thing in the world to replace, but is a bit of a pain. There is a DIY floating around, I think it took me about 2 hours or so to swap mine.

There's another possibility which doesn't cost the big bucks like the Ford replacement. It involves a different kind of gear motor, like the one in the picture below. It's not a quick fix but once the modifications are made, it should be fairly easy to replace the motor should it fail in the future... without replacing the seat bracket, etc. The YouTube video is here:
Good luck and safe travels, whatever you decide!
