Last February, my cousin handed down our grandfather's '71 Ford F100 to me for my 40th birthday. My grandfather got the truck used in '72 for his own birthday and gave it to my cousin shortly before he died about 15 years ago. We'd all driven and worked on the truck over the years and I badgered my cousin every holiday gathering just to remind him that "if he ever wanted to get rid of it" to let me know.

If it were his own choice, it probably would have never happened but he let me know that his wife wasn't too happy about it sitting in front of the house for so many years!

I love this truck and it needs a little love to bring it back to its former glory, but I'm constantly in this battle with myself whether or not to start making changes to it or just restore it. In some ways, it still feels like it my grandpa's truck and I'm just a long term custodian.

On the other hand, I just want to drop it, throw on some 20's, exhaust, and drive the hell out of it.
