Transmission upgrade

Got a 97 F250 7.3 auto that is super clean with only 165k on it. Runs like a top. No leaks my only complaint is the danged transmission. It's shifts smoothly and like it should I believe but it just seems sluggish to me. Almost like it can't keep up with the power that's being put out. I don't tow or haul anything of significance. But was wondering what kind of options in transmission upgrades I have.

If you have the money Racer X or BTS is the way to go no doubt. If a complete rebuild.isn't in the budget I would upgrade the Torque Conveter, and valve body with Racer x units and later upgrade the clutches when the trans needs a rebuild. Add some temp gauges to the trans too monitoring temps is really important.

Would I notice any difference in performance if I switched out the valve body and torque converter?

Do you want more power or more speed? More power - ZF5. More speed - built E4OD as suggested above.

Me personally I like the coon mod if you have the brass to take a drill to your valve body

drill the valve body 3 places with a 1/16" drill at an angle. each location is marked by the notches . carefully drill with a nice new bit and dont egg the hole. I had a .058 bit and a 1/16 is .062. .

Ahh child's play .
It really does firm the shifts nicely no doubt.
If upping the hp much that zf needs a not so cheap clutch.. It costs for perf. No getting around that!
