2016 VSO Job Last in spring

The DNB is listing 2016 VSO Job Last as 22APR16. Of course that can all change, but it means Ford is planning on building the 2016 AT LEAST through that point. General production is still TBD.

I am most likely going to order a 2016 F350, but I want to wait as long as possible. Realistically, what date would I need to get the order placed to ensure my truck gets built?

Second question, any idea when Ford will post 2017 power numbers?

You'll want to order a few weeks before balance out. I say a few weeks because it's not a set in stone number. I've seen it post for one week, and then during the week, post as a few days prior so all of a sudden you're past balance out. It hasn't been listed yet for the general list, but VSO order is currently posted as 08JAN16, so that's coming up quick. I'd imagine other dates to start posting soon.

As for power, I'm not sure. Honestly, without any major changes to either motor I don't think any changes are going to be all that interesting beyond a marketing perspective. Both motors do a heck of a lot of work.

I agree. While the gas motor could be more powerful, more displacement, etc...power is derived from the amount of fuel burned. More displacement would mean less MPGs.

While oil prices are down now, that may not seem like a big deal, but let's face it, they have been known to go up from time to time.

Was told by one of my managers that starting middle of January is the cut off for the 2016.
Launch is still set for March 17th.

Launch is still set for March 17th.
Launch can't be March 17 if the plant is still doing special order paint jobs in April.

Last I had heard, Job 1 was moved to very late Q2 or early Q3.

If that is the case, when might Ford start accepting orders for 2017s?

I'd guess Q2 for orders and real info, maybe late Q1

I'm not a Ford sales guy. What is DNB and VSO. The thread is confusing. What would be the "last day" I could order a 2016 F 350? If the 2017 is not supposed to be out until "late 2016", I would hope you could order a 2016 until May or so. I am waiting until after the Chicago auto show to order. I listed my 2000 and have an offer and he is supposed to pick it up Sunday. Then I will have my down payment. but would like to wait until Spring to order.

DNB = Dealer News Bulletin. VSO = Vehicle Special Order. (like if you need a yellow truck)

You will NOT want to wait until May to order a '16, we'll probably be placing orders for '17 by then. The purpose of this thread was to start being able to put together an idea of when dates may come. I don't have any updates at this time. There isn't a date set yet, and you don't want to wait until the "last day" because there is a chance the last day will change before it gets here and end up being a week before, putting you completely out of luck! If you want one, I would figure ordering sooner than later. Rebates are fairly close to their normal peaks anyhow (within about $1000 bucks, and that may well get here before your truck. Current rebates end April 04, so that will likely market the $4k general rebate (general meaning the std rebate and FMC rebate combined) (this is 100% speculation on my part). If the truck takes about 3 months to get here, ordering at the end of the month should be close. I don't have a DNB showing more recent than Christmas, so I'm due for one (normally weekly). If you place a retail order past the balance out date it just means it's a real crap shoot whether or not your order makes the cut. I don't know that I'd count on orders still being open past the Chicago Show, but if I get an update I'll be sharing it with everyone. IMO, there isn't a chance in the world I'd order a '16 with the '17s coming out. Even if there are problems, I'd take the problems over an old old old truck for new new truck money. Spring will have a 1% chance of orders being open for '16 models IMO.

Edit, I inquired about the missing bulletins, got updated on and no new info for SD, no changes either that I saw.
