benshere is starting off with a positive reputation.
Tx bigtime Black Ford XLT ! Did Join, had the usual problem coming up with a new name and Pswd. I do see the mechanism that must connect to the side latch. I took out both side latches and dont recall seeing this safety latch. Maybe because of the blood and flesh and standing on my head !! Easy enough to get the side latch loose, just getting the rod out of the new plastic holder, got all from LMC. Not entirely sure just how the 2 secure together. With this I can also trouble shoot the wiring as it makes the turn into the tailgate. This safety switch is the last item that can totally disable the feed to the motor---other than broken wires past it. These JPG's were great, had not seen them before----except for looking upside down. Tell your boss I said give you a raise !!

Remember-No post it too old when your having( PITA)problems .A word of encouragement- I struggled with the no go rear window for years -traced wiring cleaned things etc etc .The factory wiring is very resistive (long wiring to rear Thru switch) Steve83 Mod schematics cut this and make the window a pleasure to roll up and down … Another good mod is the headlight mod -.Bronco graveyard sells the the wiring harness with relays , it eliminates power going thru your headlight switch , I installed one of my 85 f150 and 92 bronco Good luck TR

I had an issue with the front dash switch for a while and then the rear switches started to give me fits. So I replaced all of the switches and installed a relay pak that I built. I used Ford wiring plugs to connect the relay pak in-line between the switch harness and window motor. I did have to find battery positive and ground inside of the tailgate. With the rear window defrost I was able to use it for a ground. The battery positive was sourced from the always on feed to the rear windows switches. Simple wiring diagram below.
