1979 F800 Dump Truck Carb Question?
Hey I am wanting to replace the 4 Barrel carb on my Dump Truck and I would like some advice.
I have a 385 series, 370V4 with a 5 speed behind it, manual choke.
The carb that it currently on the truck was rebuilt by the previous owner. and shows that it is a Motorcraft by Holly. it has some sort of governor on it that has been disconected, thing just not running right.
Have to leave the choke out for quite a while to warm up. then it just don't seem to have a lot of power. I have never got the secondarys to open up.
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a replacement? and where to purchase.
Thanks Steve!

Find the number on your carburetor. Go to www.autoline.ca and do a cross reference. Than you should be able to go to a parts store and order your carburetor with that number. The autoline number on my carburetor is C-7488, but this is for a 1985 F-700 370 - 4V. I have done this before because a lot of guys at the parts stores won't look things up. I hope this helps!

Hollys with a governor I believe a G model little tough now a days to find. I just got
my 2016 catalog from my Napa guys. I would go for a 4160 square bowl Holly. If you can't get a manual choke carb just remove electric choke and put your manual on it.
Your symptoms say somethings going on with a blown power valve and or/ metering
passages or got some blockage in venturies. And then a $30 kit should do the trick.
After all said and done, we always fill the carb with fuel and on the bench blow shop
air down its throat to check how it atomizes while holding wide open throttle (cheap
trick) Getting it to run good with the choke out means it is not atomizing correctly.
