Wood on bed to be raised? Beveled?

I'm just going through my inventory of rough sawn oak and want to bring it indoors for planing before the snow falls. I'm eyeballing the bed on my '56 F500 (original script) and I see there's a raise rim around what would be the last 1.5" edge of the bed for the final driver's side and passenger's side boards. So the options seem to be either raise the boards using heavy rubber washers to meet this edge or bevel the boards on the side and allow them all to lay flush on the steel bed supports.

What have you folks done?
