I'm probably just going to go with the Motorcraft reman I know it costs more but I want it to last.

Alright I have a couple more questions.....what fluid is recommended for the power steering pump and what is the part number for the white seal/oring/gasket on the hard line connection on the pump?

I use royal purple atf or mobil 1 atf. Both get rid of the Ford pump whine. The teflon seal comes on the pressure line if you get a new pump to booster line. I would recommend this

Mercon it is! Oh and by the way, after getting the pump mostly out yesterday, I discover that the leak is just a bad oring on the hard line. So I decided to replace the pump anyway. It has 160,000+ on it and I'm thinking how much longer would it last anyway.

Well, I have 280K on my pump and it's still quiet and very effective with no troubles, but it is time to replace the hoses, though. My son had 325K on his truck when he got rid of it, complete with a somewhat whiny but fully functioning OE PS pump.

Where did you end up getting the pump from & how much? I replaced my pump at 240,000 miles from auto zone and I wish I had left the orig. one on.

My pump had a come apart at 160,000. The parts store replacement is quiet and working fine.

I ordered it from some place online, but it's a Motorcraft remanufactured. It was about $180 minus a $50 dollar core charge.

I have one question. My intercooler tube that goes right beside the hp power steering line are about a half inch apart. Definitely less than one inch. Do I need to be concerned about that?

There is a dent in the side to clear the fitting although make sure the pipe is centered in the boots to make sure it doesn't wear a hole in the pipe. If it isnt rubbing it is normal
