I use royal purple atf or mobil 1 atf. Both get rid of the Ford pump whine. The teflon seal comes on the pressure line if you get a new pump to booster line. I would recommend this
Mercon it is! Oh and by the way, after getting the pump mostly out yesterday, I discover that the leak is just a bad oring on the hard line. So I decided to replace the pump anyway. It has 160,000+ on it and I'm thinking how much longer would it last anyway.

Well, I have 280K on my pump and it's still quiet and very effective with no troubles, but it is time to replace the hoses, though. My son had 325K on his truck when he got rid of it, complete with a somewhat whiny but fully functioning OE PS pump.
Well I got everything g buttoned today and performed a drive check. Boy was that thing smooth! Anyway, thanks for the help everybody! Can't stress that enough. Thank you.
I have one question. My intercooler tube that goes right beside the hp power steering line are about a half inch apart. Definitely less than one inch. Do I need to be concerned about that?

There is a dent in the side to clear the fitting although make sure the pipe is centered in the boots to make sure it doesn't wear a hole in the pipe. If it isnt rubbing it is normal
