93 7.3 IDI build
for the past month, ive been building a new engine for my truck
030 over 7.3
total sealed ceramic coated pistons.
main girdle w/ ARP studs
ARP head studs
Inconel valves
torque cam
balanced cam gear
Bull Moose IP
Mister Injectors
aluminum return caps
powdercoated everything metallic blue and black.
on to the exhaust where im coating with Techlines Turbo X coating.
a rebuilt OEM 093 is going on with a 3" exhaust housing and WW2
she should be a solid lill runner
special thanks to
Mel @ CDI for the fuel.
Justin @ R&D for the girdle, ceramic coating, and exhaust
Russ aka Typ4 for the cam, valves, and support
locally: bay area CA
Bruce @ Severed metal for the powder coating
Mike and Ron @ Lloyds engineering for the use of his shop!

My first thought too was why *just* a stock 093 with WW2? Not that I can judge AT ALL. I'm still N/A. Turbo will happen after Christmas, yay! But for me it'll be a slap-on 093, no fancy rebuild.
Any who nice build and I look forward to seeing it on a dyno. With the moose pump and misters are you just getting set up for a bigger turbo later on?
I just re-read and the 3" exhaust on the turbo is a hot mod too, sweet setup.
What's the positive of that exhaust coating?

i built this engine for longevity.
i need it to last me a long time.
i also have a set of roller rockers for it.
but the geometry isnt correct, and i dont have time to do the work needed to run them.
i blew up my DD (01 F250) and i need to get this thing back on the road.
i may be changing the pump if my EGT's are too hot.
i already had the pump.
the cam gear is a factory balanced gear.
without the 2 threaded holes in it.
yep, going in my 6 door.

If you find your EGTs are too hot, you will also see it in a large cloud of black smoke behind you.
And the solution is to let up on the throttle(reduce fuel input). A smaller pump will do the exact same thing(i.e. have a lower max fuel limit).
BTW, it's pretty much impossible to get your EGTs too high without towing if your timing is anywhere near right, unless you are, say, climbing a mountain.
You simply can't hold the throttle down long enough to get things that hot without exceeding the speed limit under any normal conditions.

he said speed limits
at 9.5* she would spike to 1250 with my foot in it, and not much smoke behind me.
i have a VDO pyro
and the probe is inbetween 6&8
is how i ended up rebuilding this engine, i cracked a head.
now ive upgraded the turbo, (compressor wheel and exhaust housing)
ceramic coated the slugs, so im hoping it will all be good.

i ran this thing from -9.5* to 9.5*
when i first installed my IP i took the IP gear housing off, and ended up not doing it correctly.
so after i fixed that, i tried a few different settings, and 9.5 felt the best.
(kent Moore J33300-A)
with the new cam, and everything else no doubt ill have to go through the procedure again.
