'05 Escape...now no start?

I have a 2005 Escape, 3.0L, 2wd. Wife said it was running rough intermittently, so I replaced the fuel filter(hadn't been done in a while). After the filter change, it started and warmed up just fine...backed it out of the driveway, drove to the corner and the engine died, and would not restart. I pushed it back home, checked for fuel at several locations (filter in, filter out, fuel-in at fuel rail under hood), all had fuel supply. The vehicle has 160,000 km's on it, so I assumed worn-out fuel pump. Replaced the pump, and will still not start. Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, what's the difference between the fuel pump for the "Onboard Refueling Vapor recover system" and the fuel pump for a vehicle not having that system?

Thanks all!

No CEL. No codes either. Used a friends Snap-on code scanner. We pulled a plug to check spark...we get a nice big spark once, then nothing.
