Do dually owners carry a spare tire?
#2
im surprised yours doesnt have one. Used to be they were mounted inside the vans off to the side. but i have seen some that had it mounted under neath like the trucks do. but im assuming this is a box truck E-series correct?? there should have been one mounted underneath the box somewhere. whether it was between the frame rails or on the outside of the frame on one side.
The duallys will take care of each other if one did go down but it really stresses the 2nd tire if the trucks loaded to capacity. if the box is empty/light the 2nd tire has no issues then carrying the weight.
as to moving one to the front if it blew it really depends on if the trucks setup with matched tire sizes and rims. some had a spacer to use the same rims as the rear others had a different offset character for the rim to not use the spacer. have seen some that used the same rims but had smaller tires mounted in the front and larger tires in the back to support the loads.

hmm.. cant remember what year they started it but they did make it a selectable "option" for them too. Idea was to save weight. but never really understood that when it has the potential to leave the operators stranded on the sides of the road turning it into a bigger safety factor..
if it was me id try to find a rim in a junk yard or online get a tire mounted on it and chain it someplace in the box near the door.. that or get a tractor trailer spare tire cage mounted underneath the box. if it doesnt have a jack would get one to keep in the cab too.. that way your not stranded somewhere waiting for AAA to come.
