Heater hose part # and installation help

Had a large puddle of coolant under my '05 X this afternoon after work. Seems it's leaking from the Y connection coming off the heater water control valve. See first pic.

I think it's part number 18472 (labeled with the circled 1) on left side in pic #2. Can someone confirm this is the right part and the full part number?

Lastly, how the heck do you change this hose? It's tucked up under the cowl and looks like a PITA. Any tips are GREATLY appreciated.

Can't help with part #s. Here are a couple things about disconnecting the hoses from the heater core. In the video, the very first 30 seconds or so he talks about the how to.

I had the same issue with the "Y" connector leaking on my '05. Went to the dealer and was told that the hose has been discontinued. I haven't been able to find an aftermarket replacement so any info you find would be appreciated.

My temporary(?) solution was to replace the "Y" with a manifold that I put together out of brass fittings from the hardware store. I was able to cut those plastic clamps off of the hose by carefully using a shortened hacksaw blade.

When I got mine disassembled, the plastic "Y" fitting was falling apart and very soft.

I have the other hose in that pic and the part # is 3C7Z-18472-AA. Maybe that will help in your search. I emailed Mike @ Autonation WBL and have asked him what the correct part # is so I will post back when I get a reply. To disconnect the heater hose you need a disconnect tool specifically for that connector. I have one in my OTC master disconnect set and they are a pita. Do a search for Ford heater hose disconnect tool.

Here you go, found this on ebay its OEM. Price doesn't seem too high considering the part. Good luck!

How has this worked? Do you recall sizes/specs? Thanks!

Hmm Mine went bad about a month ago. Got two from ford before they got the right one. Wont be back at the shop until monday to get the part number but I remember changing it we removed the passenger fender well and that allowed us to get the lower connection.

I purchased:
3 ea 3/4" barbed hose fittings
1 ea 3/4" "T" fitting
1 ea 3/4" male x 3/4" female 90 degree fitting

I put two barbed fittings on the running portion of the "T" and the 90 with the other barbed fitting on top hole in the "T"

I'm going to try an pick up a new hose from ebay from the listing in a previous post. I believe the fittings will work, but will need to be secured because of the additional weight.

The hoses were a little looser than I would like on the 3/4" barbs, but it holds 16 psi with a radiator pressure tester. If I can't find a replacement hose, I'll purchase 1" barbs and see if they are a better fit.

On another note, it seems like I need to find a new stealership or at least a different/more knowledgeable parts guy.

Stop in at a hydraulic hose shop and have them crimp the hose on the barbs.
You may be even be able to do that one better and have them help you
brew something up. The connection back by the FICM is a crimp on fitting. They
could cut that off and go forward from there.

BTW I bet the hose is metric and the shop may have what you need in metric
so that things fit on better.

The part number for that one is 5C7Z-18472-A. Unfortunately that one is discontinued from Ford, and no longer available.

Did you check that part number at Fordparts.com?
My Shopping Cart | FordParts.com

None on Fleabay.

However you might want to give this on a shot.

You know with all the pain that "Y" can dish out I think I
like the idea of a brass or a stainless steel hydraulic hose fitting
to build something to replace it. Then all you have to do is
have them crimp on a new section to the metal heater return line.

Check the sizing I bet it metric.

The only down side with a metal replacement is it will have more weight to it.

Ok, sorry a little hijacking here but it seems appropriate... lol. This is what I did when that heater core valve was leaking coolant down the side of the engine, don't laugh! hahaha!!

Edit: ooops forgot one more picture.. you need to "do something" with the original part concerning the vacuum. lol
