You gotta love progress!
By the way, I saw on Facebook that a guy in Lincoln has a bunch of 53-56 parts.

It looks to be Autographics Specialty on Cornhusker highway toward the airport.
210 W Cornhusker Hwy
The facebook post was selling what they said is a 55 F600, but it has a 54 grill.

Thanks Joe. I might have to drive by on my way home from work tomorrow. I know exactly which place it is and have seen the trucks sitting out there. Never know what a guy will find. I also I plan to join that FB Group!

Day of Setbacks
Started the day all excited to get my rear Drums and Brakes on today. All the parts secured and ready to be installed. Mounted both backing plates with brakes attached. Repacked bearings and seals put in place. Slid the drum/hub on. Slid outside bearing on and put first nut on. Got it tight and for some reason the drum was still a little wobbly. So I went and looked at the other drum/hub and a noticed the outside bearings are a different size than the hub that I got from Pat (1960fordf350). I continued to explore the situation a little more and found out that the axle bolt holes are a little different also. I had hoped to use the hubs that came with the drums but that wouldn't be happening . All the work of cleaning, painting, and having turned lost. My hubs were good so it was off to brake and clutch shop to have hubs pulled and my hubs re-installed. Plus they would have to be turned again to true them to the different hubs. Not the end of the world, just an irritation. The good news the hard to find drums are still good to use. Not sure what the hubs that I got from Pat came off of but they are available if anyone needs them.
Set of Tools from Harbor Freight sure made this job easier!

Moving forward
My last post I had a set back, well today I moved forward. I ended up taking the slightly over sized rear hubs/drums in and had my original hubs put in the drums. They did an awesome job but they also had to do a little machine work to get them to fit together so they set flush. They also turned the drums again so they were true. Got them all clean and painted up...again, and mounted them along with the Axle. With the wife gone horse back riding I was also able to squeeze in the master cylinder and brake lines. Went pretty good, but those lines can sure be stubborn getting lined up with the threads Thought about bleeding them but I was wearing down after getting only 4 hours of sleep last night. I also installed the new wheels and tires. If all goes good I plan to bleed the lines on Wednesday, adjust the brakes and set the ole girl down on her new Rubber! And maybe, just maybe I'll go for a very short ride with my new brakes, wheels, and tires.

Congrats! Bleed those brakes and take it for a spin. Video and pictures required.
I purchased speed bleeders which made one man brake bleeding a breeze.
1948-79 Ford F-100 Brake Bleeders, Speed Bleed, 5/16" - 2208
Not sure what size you need, but these sure are handy.

A BIG day today, so I though I would share! After 20 years I got my Truck on the road again! Completely new brakes, brake lines, wheels, and tires. The 239 is still pretty tired but I just had to do it. The seat is not reupholstered yet, so I had to set on a bucket. Not very comfortable plus lots of clunks and rattles At least I can pull it outside now and do some cleaning and power washing. I know what I will be dreaming about tonight!

Congrats Dave! It's always fun to see another F-350 rolling down the road. Nothing like sitting on a bucket and going for that first ride. When I drove mine out in the sunlight for the first time I was sitting on a bucket, had a rubber gas line going into a 5 gallon gas can & no cab. My guess is you had a big smile and enjoyed the ride.

I'm more of a stock guy, so I went with the bench seat. My passenger gets the fancy folding chair. (And the flashlight since the last run was at night and I don't have a dome light.)
No back rest kept me close to home, otherwise I would probably still be driving it was so much fun.
You have the frame cleaned up. Put a blanket on it and go. It worked for me until I took it in to be upholstered.

OK Joe, you were right! I want to go for more rides! Today was so nice and it was Sunday so I thought I am going to do something for myself today. I made my own Custom Cab! I cleaned up the floor boards and cut some carpet I had left over from a home project to fit the floor. Since my seat is not upholstered yet I had to come up with a seat cover. A little more carpet and a cushion from one of our patio chairs and I have a Custom Cab. Sure beats sitting on a bucket I drove a little further today, probably about 1 mile is all. As you can see I have a very limited fuel supply! When I got back, I backed it into the shop and pulled the oil plug. At least 30 years since it had been changed. Of course it was very black and thin. My dad always change oil every 2000 miles and used the Brand called Archer Aircraft Oil. He was actually a dealer for the local farmers. Anyone ever hear of it? Also pulled the oil filter off and cleaned it up. Now to research the type of oil I'm going to put in the ole girl. Any ideas?
