Ok spoke with my builder sounds like I'll need a rebuild, thinking of getting the racerx rebuilt kit and triple disk TC, I was thinking about the valve body also but my truck is pretty stock, plus its a 15 day wait +shipping. Any thoughts on the Racer X parts?

I was gonna say JW like Glenn said. You can't go wrong, but it sounds like you are lined. Pay for upgraded clutches. Not that much $$. There are a lot of parts that can be upgraded. The planetaries (composite and design), the TC, the VB, and the list goes on. I paid less than that for an Econo HD. Is that what he quoted you installed? I paid less, but that was year ago. It's worth it on the warranty and quality alone. I live 2 hours from him. I drove to him at 5 am on morning and was home by 5 pm that evening. It was great education and he has taken care of me ever since. I know Glenn's has been pretty damn stout as well.

Yeah I gave them a call and that's what they quoted me. Like i said, I'd love to have JW do the trans but I can't afford it. Going with the Racer X parts, and labor I should be in the ball park of 2k. He's giving me 3 years unlimited miles on his work. I don't think there will be an issue with the parts from Racer X. if the trans takes another dump after that most likely I'll be getting a different truck, nottnhat I don't love this one, it has sentimental value since it was my grandpa's but it may not be worth it.

Keep in mind that even on a completely stock truck, bolting on a modified valve body is good for the transmission because it places less wear on the clutches when the trans shifts, versus a stock valve body.

Oh its gonna happen lol just will be after the holidays. The wait time is what kills me on having it installed while being rebuilt I need this truck back before thanksgiving, can't do that with a 15 day wait on a part.

I came real close getting a racer X complete trans but I had to find a local installer. I said the heck with that, I'll drive to JW's.

That's what I did! Twice!

9+ hours and the fuel and motel expense each time was well worth it.

That's where I get some of my parts from. there's more there if you wanna look around.
But you may want to have it looked at and codes read before you get into rebuilding it. mite be something simple if it just quit all of a sudden
finally got around to looking at all of these, I'm assuming I need a 9694805K because my trans is a 96. Not bad its only $65ish bucks, I'm assuming a few of these parts will help firm up shift and lessen the amount of slip occurring am I correct?

What about just ordering SCE40D (the sure cure kit)
