Tow Capacity 1988 F350 DRW 7.5L 460 4.10 rear
I have my original owners manuals for my truck which gives towing capacity based on GCVWR...but the only thing I see on my truck is GVWR. How do I determine what my gross combined vehicle weight rating is on a 1988 F350 Dual Rear Wheel 7.5L 460 with 4.10 rear end? I know what the door sticker says is Gross Vehicle Weight Rating...I'm looking for the combo rating for the truck and tow vehicle together.

It's in the section for trailer towing, you will find a bunch of charts organized first for manual and auto transmissions and then for each engine and axle gear ratio. You won't find anything saying F150, F250, or F350 dually it just comes down the basic powertrain combo since the bigger motors and axles were only offered in the bigger trucks anyway. In your case you just look at the highest rating for a 7.5/auto/4.10 gear and that is the max your loaded truck and trailer can weigh, subtract the loaded ready to travel weight of your truck and the result is the heaviest trailer you can tow.

I've have seen this chart..it showed 3 different possibilities for my auto trans and 4.10 rear end...so I can just assume its the largest one based on the fact that its a 350 and DRW? That makes sense since the next largest truck of that year was a Super Duty 450 and the owners manual doesn't apply to it. Thanks!
