Using an SCT X4 for egt gauge?

Is anyone using their x4 to monitor egts? I'm thinking of getting the probe and module to connect to the x4 to monitor egts while towing. I don't really want a pod on the pillar.

I have a SCT X4 and a JMS egt probe to monitor egt on my truck. It works excellent. I went that route because, like you, i did not want pillar gauges.

Do you use a suction cup mount? I plan to only use it while towing. Glad to hear it works well

Yes on the mount. It is located in the top left corner of the windshield. It is out of sight of would be thieves and I use it as a monitor24/7

I did have the suction cup mounted to the top of the dash, but it wouldn't stay, even with duct tape, so its on the windshield now. I use mine 100% of the time.

So I got the sct 9617 egt probe kit yesterday and I have a question for those of you that have one. There are 3 plugs in the unit...1 for the FireWire which connects to the X4, 1 to the probe itself. Anyone know what the third one is for? I'm guessing it's for some other input but don't know what that would be. In the pic it's the one on the left with 4 tiny prongs in it. The "instructions" that came with it are no help at all.

Thanks

I went ahead and called SCT. they said that plug is for them to hook up to do diagnostics. So, it's not useable for an additional input
