Hot Rod Flatz paint

Has anyone used any of their paint products. I'm interested in their paint. I want to paint my truck a red like in the picture.

I have, the 33 you see below is Hot Rod Flatz Gunsmoke. Have had it on for approx. 5 years now and no UV effects yet. I wash it with water and soap, does not hold finger prints like the primers. Make sure you get the product to air mix proper while spraying, don't keep pulling the trigger while spraying, constant as much as possible, lays down real nice and don't spray if hotter that 80 outside if not in a controlled paint booth

Have some friends that have used it. I have tried some other brand flat paints. I really like the look. It looks nice as long as you treat it like a garage queen. Any flat finish is high maintenance. I expected the opposite result when I did it on a car. It looks great at first but then it gets dirty and water spotted super easy and it's real tough to maintain a uniform look. Ever see a factory matte black Harley? Next time you do, ask the owner what he has to do to keep it looking nice. You would think there is some product out there you could apply like you would a wax.

I got a similar affect by using cheap acrylic gloss enamel and letting the sun eat it up a few years.

It looks like the 1707 candy apple red Hot Rod Flatz. In the picture I posted.

Can you explain that part a little better? I'd like to have the flat option but just haven't seen it last. Perhaps the application is the key. Sounds like you are saying to spray it dry.

It's gotta be better than primer. Primer is not designed to withstand UV. It's bad news for a number of reasons. Stuff rusts around here with most primers used as a topcoat. Epoxy primer will hang on awhile

I think what gerrymoe means is you have to have a steady spray.

Exactly, you want to keep it wet, with a good overlap and keep the paint gun an equal distance from the surface constantly

Thanks, sounds like the same rules as properly applying any other paint. Please share the results if you try it Etown. Not for everyone but I think it looks pretty good.

I just painted my first panel with Flatz Hot Rod Red. Now I have painted cars before but I'm not an expert like some on this forum, but I found this paint very easy to lay down smoothly without runs or orange peel. I'm sure that it also has to do with my first use of an HVLP gun. I used suction feed guns before.

Two coats on front panel only
