Update tried to run the test multiple ways. With no result... Tried with a multi meter, tried with the test light, even tried with reading dash blinks. I got no response. This isn't supposed to happen is it? If the system was ok it should still shower code 11 right?

At the very least you should get the System Pass code of 11. No codes could caused by dirty/corroded contacts on the test port or you have a bad computer.

Time to pull it out and inspect. It's behind the driver side kick panel and comes out from the cab side after disconnecting the connector on the firewall side.

Could cleaning the connectors be as simple as rubbing steel wool over them, like on an old Nintendo cartridge? Also should it actually be bad would it be an expensive replacement and would I have to load code and such onto it? I'm beginning to think I should have kept my 79 Bronco.

I suggest a small finger nail file to clean the pins on the diagnostic link. Works like a charm. Steel wool, bad idea. A small screwdriver would work better.

A replacement computer (PCM) can be in the $80 to $180 range. A quick inspection will tell you if the inside is salvageable. The capacitor(s) are known to leak. Left long enough it will damage the board.

It's not that bad...

Plenty of recent threads from folks like yourself having the same issue. Search on keyword "capacitor"

A photo from a recent thread:

upper left, look closely at the round blue cylinder (capacitor) that sprung a leak and swelled up.

From this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-no-start.html

There are dozens more....

41 lean fuel

96 fuel pump shows no power

So now my question is it possible to run a regular electric fuel pump with a separate regulator?
