1949 M155 4 speed transmission
#4
The only syncro'd 4 speed transmissions that were available then was the T98, which was standard equipment only with the 254 6 cylinder engine in F6 trucks from 50-53. It was optional with the V8, but rare. I don't believe the 254 was available in Canada, so that throws that out. 1949 predates the use of the T98 even in the states, so it's highly unlikely your trans is syncro'd.
Transmissions in the big trucks have a different tailshaft housing and mount setup than the F1/47. Long story short, it won't fit in an M47. Best to stick with the 3 speed. It will have the syncros you are looking for. All the 4 speed adds is the granny low gear, which you'll never use under normal driving conditions, anyway.
