- I have Pebble Beach Concourse Standards but common Street Rod Garage Skills
- I have come to accept that the initial fab I do almost always is scrapped or re-done 2-3 times before acceptable.
- Specialized tools/equipment I ignored when young, I now invest in. While seldom used, they're a God-send when needed.
- Stupid mistakes over years have trained me to pause and review more carefully before action. Aaaaand... I still do Dumb-A$$ things....
- Professionals weld my critical stuff. Having once worked with Trophy-Truck welding Savant's, my shameful ability is well hidden,
- I have a Gauge Fetish - Never Enough
- The older I get, the quieter my Mufflers....
- At some point everyone forgets to slide the flare nut in place before bending. Same with slipping on Shrink-Tube before installing the connector...

Champagne dreams with a bottled water budget.
Great ideas are not always.
If the boss hasn't approved it, don't expect to get it.
"Don't force it, use a bigger hammer", usually means I will break it.
I had less experience, fewer tools and less money when young. But, I rarely feared trying anything.

A lot of sage advice already posted.
-Just because everyone else is currently doing a popular mod doesn't mean you necessarily need to do it too. Some are permanent so don't be impulsive.
-With experience you'll learn when to repair a component, and when it belongs in the scrap pile unless you truly have unlimited free time.
-This is supposed to be fun. Attempt mods and repairs you are capable of learning to complete. Success will inspire you to stay on the project.

So I'll add the one I learned the hard way, years ago; be sure the drive shaft yoke is in the back of the trans before adding the trans fluid, or your feet will get wet. (Or, be sure to wear shoes when adding trans fluid so your feet don't get wet )
