I have the door ajar issue on my 2003 XLT with a 4.6L
I have tried to do this before. I removed the door switch on the drivers door, and found that it was needed to complete the circuit, so it is just hanging in the door.
I have done the WD40 spray thing until I am blue in the face.
I checked the rear window, and believe it is working, if I open the window the wiper motor will not work. It will work if the liftgate is open or closed. Does that help at all?
So I am at a loss on where to go from here on tracking this down. Any help, I have read a lot and most are the WD40 or people just give up.
I really do not want to take it into the dealer. Right now we are just turning the dimmer switch all of the way off.
There is a good video on you tube about this. To isolate it turn on the truck, wait for the interior lights to go out. If you open the door and the lights do not come on that is the bad one. Mine was the passenger rear door. I unplugged it, and placed a spade connector in it to complete the circuit.
Do you have access to a scantool and a laptop? If not, I'd highly recommend the OBDLink MX. It's 99 bucks, but well worth it. And, of course, it works on any OBD2 vehicle.
For software, FORScan for Android ($5), iOS ($5) or Windows (free) can help you gain access to all kinds of data points in all Ford/Mazda vehicles. This can be used to read the state of the door switches and determine which does not respond, and then test if your bypass is registering. If it does not register, then you have an issue with the wiring and you'll have to inspect the wiring to find the problem

Have you tried checking your accessory delay relay if there not opperating correctly they can reak havoc also check the wiring between the door hinges under the boot wires can get cut also the the the main switch can be taken apart check the contacts sometimes they bend out of place and it starts to arc causing a bad connection sand them re bend the contacts so they hit properly if your having issues rolling them down
