Somehow what I wrote before posting those pics didn't load. I was helping the American Truck Historical Society at the Piston Power Show in Cleveland last March. The REA truck was manned by a young man selling tee-shirts and trinkets. He said he drives the truck everywhere, SLOWLY! The passenger side was modified to open up like a food vendor. Otherwise the truck was unmolested.

The show was started on the premise that anything that was powered by a piston was allowed. It grew very fast, and now the people who put it on bought out the Cleveland Auto-Rama show. So now they are both combined together. There is judging and prizes. The truck club doesn't compete, we are just there for show. The building is huge, it was an airplane factory during WWII. After that they assembled tanks there.

Mike, that is so early 70's... Raised white letters...( Followed closely of course by raised outline 'ROWL' letters). JK, How funny that they did that to tires back then, and THANK YOU for 'getting' this thread. I have enjoyed it SOOO much. Looking in the background and seeing the remnants of a time gone by. Clothes on the line, broken windows in buildings, old signs, used car lots, streetcars and utility poles dominating the landscape, desperate poor people making their way west, patched up cars and tires. This stuff wasn't posed or faked. We all owe a debt of gratitude to Scott, our 'tinman', for coming up with this idea and initiating this remarkable thread. Happy New Year to the men of FTE!
