2011 6.7L PSD overheating during towing up grade

I have a 2011 F350 6.7 and have had it in shop three times because every time i tow a trailer up a grade my coolant temp rises. It has been tested for everything and last time they changed thermostat and air charge sensor. It seems like the problem started after the last update. Every problem the 2011 has had my truck has been fixed for oil pan, injector hold down, transmission and flywheel! Now this issue and my warranty expires the end of November with under 50k miles

When you say temperature rises, what does it rise to? Does it loose coolant when it overheats?

This past August, I saw my coolant go to like 226 and oil temps to 245 a few times when towing the 5'r out west in the mountains.

I have had oil temps as high as 248F. No detrate.

My coolant guage has gotten as high as 3/4 on the guage all just fine.

Your posting in the 6.7 section I also asked if your clutch fan was ever tested?

Another question is what are you trying to tow? Not just weight but dimensions too please.

Welcome to the forum, otho1972. I want to get this into the hands of your regional customer service manager (CSM); they'll work with your dealer to ensure your truck keeps its cool. Since you're new, you may not have PM access yet. If that's the case, send an email to custserv@ford.com with your details; I'll need your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage and servicing dealership. Please put my name ("Crystal") in the subject line and post here once you've sent it. That's how I'll know to go looking for your email.

Thanks!

Crystal

My digital reads 222 about 3/4 on gauge and I don't recall the oil temp it never loses coolant but it does defuel

Yes they said it was fine but as soon as it kicks on it seems to cool fast

I think I would push for a flight data recorder. Then take the truck for a spin up the same route that causes the issue.

Does not sound to me like you are pushing a thing.

I am well over your weight without issue.

Edit: you should get your oil temp at the time of defueling.

Radiator?

My 2013 F250 PSD developed an almost imperceptible leak on the drivers side of the radiator. Truck would get hot under load, otherwise no real sign, except a sweet smell from the HVAC. Spent $1600 replacing the radiator with an OEM radiator. I learned about the Mishimoto unit afterwards.
