New here - 69 F100
Well, new to the "Older Model" area. Joined a while back when I had a 2004 F250, which is gone now.
A few weeks back I picked up a nice 69 F100 (302 v8, auto) to use as a ranch truck and something to resto for my son (another project on the growing list...). Very little rust, except the leading edge of the hood. All the rest is surface rust but might just leave it, as it has a nice patina. 100% original from the cab forward (even has a parking brake light which I hear is rare). The bed is a different story. Previous owners father (he passed away a few years back and it's been sitting in a barn) was an engineer who had bought the truck new (I have the original window sticker and book from the dealer). He fabricated a dump bed lift for it, which works and is wicked cool, although not the original bed.
It needs a few things, but starts and drive very well. Needs some carb work to idle better, the shift lever is very sloppy, fuel gauge doesn't work (temp does, so probably wiring or sending unit) and after market AC needs freon. All the door seals are shot, but the window glass seals are good (original glass all around). Took it and got it inspected, and now has legal Farm Truck plates on it. Used it to take Nicolas' first ever deer kill (crossbow no less) to the processor last weekend.

Looks like a keeper--no deep rust, a decent body and a cool dump truck feature not seen on other trucks. Your son could use it to deliver topsoil, gravel or whatever, when he is of driving age. Reminds me of my 1970 4wd F250 I had when I was 19 years old in So. Lake Tahoe, CA. I sold it to a father of a buddy of mine who was going to help my buddy get started in a business plowing snow from driveways. Quite a work truck those old Fords were. I now have another 1970 4WD F250 that I'm slowly restoring. Forgotten by me in the last 30 years are the 4.10 gearing and 3 speed + a granny gear manual that makes these trucks an anachronism on 70mph+ freeways of today. The stiffness of the ride, no AC, hand cranked windows and AM radio says work truck, something I didn't even notice when I was 19 when it got me from point A to point B through heavy snow. Congrats on the truck! I'm jealous that you have air conditioning.

Welcome to our FAMILY.
There are a lot of really cool OLD DUDES that frequent this board and collectively we can help you out or at least point you in the right direction with any issue you might have with that Farm truck.
Mine is a hunting truck.
Congrats to your son on his harvest. I sure wish I could come over for dinner because Venison is delicious.
I am an Archer and have a Bowtech Experience. A crossbow is not archery equipment but cool none the less.
Teach him right. Key word is RESPECT. Respect for the land, the landowner, the game and always put others first.
Welcome to FTE.
