Has anyone read the article in Diesel Power Magazine about fuel tank liner coming off? Supposedly its 97-10 diesel trucks. They were reporting the liner was breaking down . Clogging fuel , fuel filters , and injectors.
Has anybody taken down there fuel tanks when doing modifications , and noticed their liner separating?

 

This is an issue with those trucks with steel tanks. Most F250/350's have "plastic" tanks and are not subject to the issue. I think it is the 450/550 and chassis body trucks that have the steel tanks, maybe Excursions as well?

 

It's been a while since I first read about that. IIRC, it was the steel tanks lined with...(I don't remember exactly), that wasn't compatible with Biodiesel.

Many places started adding BD to their fuel and the lining sloughed off. Bad news

My 2002 Excursion is a plastic tank.

 

I wasnt sure if the plastic tanks were involved. They said all 250 & 350 from 97-10 . I know in the article they were showing had a upgraded metal tank for a 97. But I wanted to double check with everyone about it. See if anybody knew anything different
