Job Lot Closing - Chuck's Trucks' Expanding Support For Small And Big Trucks

I saw on Ford Barn that Job Lot is closing. Seems to have been coming for a while. Here's the discussion thread.

Joblot Automotive Going Out Of Business - The Ford Barn

I emailed Chuck yesterday asking what impact it will have for big truck guys. We've known that he has had a business relationship with Job Lot, and has been able to provide parts support for both small and big trucks. Below is an excerpt of his response:

Stu,
I have always had more big truck parts available than Joblot. I have already been down there once to gather up all of the odd NOS parts that we won’t find again. I’ll be back down there again soon.

Going forward, I will stock larger quantities of more popular items. I’m working on moving all of the used parts from upstairs in my front units to the upstairs of my rear units, so I can setup an actual Ford parts room, with customer counter, display cases, Ford signs, etc. Chuck

Sad that Job Lot will be going away, but good that Chuck is expanding to cover it. Here's Chuck's web page. Stu

Sorry to hear that about JobLot. It turns out one of their long-time countermen is a local here, and an EFV8 Club member. He is a wealth of information. I always used JobLot anytime I could, but would be the first to admit they were behind the times as far as online presence.

Unfortunately for the owners it is going to be pretty hard to sell a business like that unless their monthly sales are significant which I doubt. Having been involved in buy/sell activities of several old Jeep dealers over the years I can tell you that in the end the obsolete parts are only worth pennies on the dollar. What is of value is what is probably locked in the heads of the key people in the operation. Hopefully Chuck can make an offer to those people like James Saccoccio. Moving from Queens Village to Hamden, CT shouldn't be too tough.

sad news indeed. It just isn't getting any easier to keep small businesses afloat these days.
