01 F250 Transmission Issue
Hello,
First time posting here. This seems like the place to get the best answers. Hope someone can help.
I have a 01 F250, 7.3 with 220,000 miles on it. In the last month the trans started acting odd. At least i think it's the trans. Seems to shift okay in normal driving, but when i get on the freeway, it's a different story.
Seems to have lost a little power, but this also could be attributed to the trans. So moving along, stuck behind a bunch of slow traffic at 45 or so, and a lane opens. I switch lanes and punch it. It downshifts, hits 60, and stays there and hits over 3,000 RPM. Will not upshift until I let off the gas. Once in gear, seems fine and stays in gear.
PS: one other thing I've noticed recently is if I'm running 75 MPH or so on cruise control, either the engine is surging, or the trans feels like it is slipping every 5 to 10 seconds for 2 about 2 seconds. This seems to be the case about 50% of the time.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Dave
