2007 F150 4x4, 33s vs. 35s gas mileage?

Hey All,
I was debating the gas mileage difference between the two tires, 33 vs. 35 (same width, same rim).
Anyone running a 4.6L 4X4 auto with 33s or 35s?
Any significant cut in gas mileage? My mechanic friend wants me to go 6" lift with 35s;
But I was thinking 33s, he laughed and said it wouldn't look right.

Thanks for any input
Have s great one!

I agree it wouldn't look right. You can easily run a 33 at factory height. They look a little small on my leveled truck. You will take more of a hit in power and mpg's the larger you go though. If you are dead set on 6" of lift I would plan on changing your differential gears and going with 35's.

Thanks for the input,
I'm currently running 32" BFG KO LTs; which are heavy tires for their size.
I figure 35" pizza cutters would look nice with a 6" lift. I haven't made up my mind on the 6" lift yet.
Do you think the 35" would be a severe difference to the 32"? As far as needing to re-gear the diffs?
The truck runs the 32" BFG KOs with ease, no strain getting up to speed on the road.
Off road, the truck will run like a scalded dog.
I don't know what diff. gears are in it now.
That 281 or (4.6L) surprised the heck out of me!

After researching more on tire sizes and gear ratios.
I decided that I CAN NOT afford to put a 6" lift on, with 35" tires, with new rims and re-gearing the diffs.

I guess I will be looking at 2" levelling with Fox, with new UCAs. I can keep my OEM rims on the truck; will not have to re-gear the diffs.

I love the look of 6" or higher lifts.
It ends-up costing WAY TOO MUCH MONEY!

Thanks y'all for the input and help,

Have a great one!

Nice! Did you have any trouble with the alignment after the Ranchos were installed?

You will need an alignment after installing them for sure. I didn't do the alignment myself though. Put the struts on during my lunch break and had the regular alignment guy do it in the afternoon. That was when I still worked at a dealership.

Rancho QuickLift looks awesome! I've been meaning to do this to my truck for awhile since my shocks are shot. Hoping to get this done soon though.

Yeah if your that worried about a couple mpg difference I wouldn't go with a lift and 35's...I have a6 lift and 35s and get 10 mpg.. The difference between tire size would only make a slight difference, the tread and type of tire makes a bigger difference. I'd say leveling kit slightly bigger tires and more aggressive tread would lower mpg about 2..I don't work too far so don't do much driving so I wasn't worried about mpg at all when lifting my truck, looks good though, and better angles..
