Tie rod ends on 79 f350 Dana 60
I put a Dana 60 front on my 67 f250. I noticed the left tie rod end (shorter one) the stud and castle nut is larger than the other side (long end) I also noticed three washers used to space the nut away from the spindle because the stud would be too long. Are the tie rod end studs and nuts supposed to be the same size ? I'm hoping someone didn't drill out the left spindle hole to accomadate a larger tie rod that they "had laying around" this truck does not have cross over steering

Either way FYI the taper for the Chevy and fords are the same. They come in larger and smaller sizes. I'm betting someone put an incorrect smaller taper tie rod end in as a replacement. As a result it is sitting deeper in the bore than it should. If not it's a pretty simple matter to ream the tapers for the larger tie rod ends I.E. The larger Chevy 1 ton ends.
