Ford Offering FREE extended warranty, Which One should I get?

I'm one of the folks with a 15' that has the knocking/pingins issues while in Regen. Ford Care has offered an extended warranty. Either the Diesel Care Plus or one of the ESP warranties. I cant seem to find the info on the ESP warranties but I think the best one is 8 years at 125k miles while the Diesel Care plus is 7 years 200,000. The ESP seems to be more of a bumper to bumper type while the Diesel Care is more of specific parts of the motor. Curious which one any of you would recommend. I'm trying to limit repair bills after the regular warranty. Specifically those caused by what ever is making some trucks do this. So which warranty would you get and why? Thanks for the info.

How many miles do you drive per year? I am partial to the ESP warranty which includes a loaner vehicle if they have yours over 4 hours. There are also other exp. items that are not covered by the diesel care package.

Shoot if its free, get the PremiumCare 7/125k warranty....not sure how long your plan on keeping your truck. When your folding mirrors go out, you'll wish you had the PremiumCare though

I think it depends on miles.

Diesel EngineCARE

The Diesel EngineCARE if you plan on going above 125,000 miles the Diesel EngineCARE covers the truck to 200,000 miles and 7 years.

PremiumCARE

PremiumCARE is almost bumper to bumper coverage but runs out at 125,000 miles. You can get plans to 8 years though.

I thought some FTE members purchased both plans. A shorter PremiumCARE plan and Diesel EngineCARE for miles between 125,000 and 200,000.

Sounds like the 8 year / 125,000 mile PremiumCARE plan will work for you.

If you have a 15, you have until your 3/36,000 runs out to purchase. Plenty of on-line sellers giving you the best price possible. Your local dealer will not care if you purchased your PremiumCARE plan online. Having only 12,000 on my 15, I plan to start looking for coverage in about a year.

Ford is paying for the warranty. Im just tying to figure out which one is the best fit. If the motor goes at 150k miles the diesel care is best. If the tranny lets go at 120k the ESP is better. Decisions decisions.

I never purchase extended warranties. So far that has paid off. Question, is the labor to make the repair covered by an ESP included or just the physical part?

PremiumCare..... Here's why. In my 2011 both Power Folding Mirrors went out before I had 25k miles on my truck. They cost $1600.00 EACH to replace (if I didn't have warranty). If your Nav unit goes while out of warranty that likes $3000 to replace. Engine repairs are very expensive, but arn't the only costly parts on these trucks. Who knows really how long you'll keep the truck. Adjust you expected trade in date to 125k miles and get the PremiumCare.

And Parts and Labor are covered. With these Diesels, the peace of mind is worth it.

Ford ESP PremiumCare paid for itself on my truck just with mirror repairs plus it paid for a few other items and a rental.

Get the 7 year one. I got the five year and it's a mistake I won't make again. Even if they only offer to give the five year, ask if you can pay the difference for the 7 year/125k.

I ran 145,000 on my 2011 and the engine was just fine.
My out of pocket repairs were
Brakes, rotor/caliper
Batteries
Front hub/bearings
Steering stabilizer ( death wobble)
EGT sensors
Coolant leak on turbo
Oil leak on turbo

Bottomline, I saw more mechanical failures that were not engine related

And while the 125,000 Premium care would have caught a lot of these, The last three were past 125,000 and would have been on my dime. I didn't spend enough on repairs to have came out ahead, if I had paid for the premium care,But since it's free for you take it and be happy.

I just had this happen for the first time during latest regen. How'd they diagnose it on yours? I was able to make it stop by letting off the throttle and quickly speeding up, doing it slowly only made it knock worse. Then the rest of the regen was fine.
