No, the T9 is a spur gear transmission and the T98 has helical gears. For some reason the T9 transmissions are marked with T8 part numbers, but are listed as T9 Warner transmissions in all the literature. In 1956 Warner changed the helix angle direction of the T 98, so you must also have the correct PTO for a T98.
