1993 Ford F150 XLT 5.0L crank no start

Hey guys new to this forum. Im here because my sister's husband's truck has a crank no start issue. It's getting fuel but no spark. It's getting 12 volts to the coil but no signal from the computer to energize the coil. I checked the PIP sensor from the distributor at the connector with a digital volt meter and the meter acted like a it couldn't get voltage reading, it would see 0.00 volts AC but then quickly changed to 0.00 millivolts AC but Alldata says it should see 3.0-8.5 volts AC. So which is right?

First off unplug the computer and see if spark returns.

Seems like it was 0-7VDC square wave if I remember right.

So you want me to unplug the PCM? I have no scope to look at the wave all I have is a Digital Volt Meter

Just unplug the PCM Computer (some say you can just pull the SPOUT jumper out) and see if you get spark.
If spark returns the PCM Computer is more than likley bad or you have a bad ground or power to it.

You might also want to watch this link on the PIP:

it's showing 58.5 millivolts DC with key on at the PIP sensor connector and 0.00 volts DC when cranking. No spark when PCM or SPOUT is disconnected

With PCM still unplugged unplug the ICM. If you get a good signal then replace the ICM.
If not replace the PIP on the stater inside the distributor.
