Last week my 94 Ranger would not start. The engine would turn over and sounded normal. After waiting for about 15 minutes it started. I drove it home then it would not start again. I replaced the spark plugs and fuel filter and it would not start. The next day it started up and ran great. I used it over the weekend without any problems. Today I drove it to work and now it won't start again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you might have a bad starter. You can drive up to your favorite autoparts store, remove the starter in their parking lot and have them test it for you. Call first to see if they offer this service and how much.

 

Have you checked the plug wires? They might look to be in good condition, but might not be up to spec. I had a similar problem with random nonstarting on my '94 4.0, changed the plugs and wires and it was all better.

I will try the wires first. They do look a little old. I'll post my results when I'm done. I've never had any problems this my truck before I suppose there is a first time for everything.

The truck just started working after my last post. I think replacing the plugs did the trick. I went ahead and changed the plug wires anyway. The wires only cost $35 at Discount compared to Autoways price of $130.
