Power seats not moving front to back

I have a 2004 Navigator. Today both the drivers and passenger power front seats stopped moving front to back. Everything else on the seats seem to work fine. I have the #1 position set all the way back but when my son got in it this morning, the drivers seat would not go forward. When I got home tonight I tried it and it sounds like the motor is working but the seat won't move. The funny thing was I tried the passenger side, it is doing the same thing. Any ideas what I should do?

There is no interconnection between the two front seats. Is it possible the passenger side has had a problem for a while and went unnoticed?

If it's similar to the '05 Expy seat motor, where the motor is in the middle up front driving two cables going to each track, then you can pull out the cables and see if the motor works. There's two "gearboxes" in front of each track, might be one that failed or something. On mine, I had the sleeves that are meant to stiffen up the cables break off, making the whole seat vibrate. I can imagine it could cause the cables to come undone from the assembly and prevent the seat from moving forward and backward, and the motor would be running in that case. Since you mention the motor seems to be working, this might be your issue. I used heat shrink and cable ties to hold the cables in place.

Ok I went back out and tried them again, still not moving. I went into the message center and turned off the automatic egress function. Tried the seats again, still not moving. Sat there another 5 minutes or so trying to think of anything else to try. Tried the driver's seat again, it worked this time. I went to the passenger side, it also worked. I understand that the egress function could have affected the driver's seat but the passenger seat makes no sense.

Try to look under the seat at the front, might have to remove a plastic trim piece, on the Expy theres a plastic piece in the fromt that just pulls right off. The motor should be in the center, try to look at what its doing when you try to move the seat
