Well I know sca strips are not that expensive but i have a bottle of swimming pool strips that i rarely use. They have several tests on each strip so my question is what a sca strip actually tests and what should such reading be?

 

just buy the 3 way 4-pack strips. Like $10.

 

I'd like to know what they actually test too...
Our local NAPAs carry some monster 60-count bottle, but the dumb thing expires after a year.
So if you ask they will just give you a strip cause they know you're gonna buy from them anyways. It's a good deal.
They also know how dumb it is to sell a 60-count bottle you will use 2 or 4 times before it's worthless

What do swimming pool strips test?

SCA test strips test for levels of one or two (depending on which type of strip) needed to prevent cavitation. Since swimming pools are not under 400 psi of compression, it's unlikely that the pool water contains these chemicals, or that the test strips test for them. Just a wild guess, but pool test strips probably just test for levels of either pathogens, chemicals (such as chlorine) to kill those pathogens, or pH. None of these factors are related to diesel engine cavitation.

 

Mine test ph, chlorine, alkalinity, hardness and 2more things i cant remeber till i look at bottle.
