Thanks for the assist FTE

So was out running errands with the old girl the other day and she's running real good. Sometime after getting home Mr UPS man delivers a new air filter for Shirley, the oil bath was giving her bath. I get her all dried up and with the new dry filter installed we go for a ride. Well she runs good up through the gears/rpms ah great she's running good as expected. So we crest 60mph and the old girl decides she wants to act up, bucking kicking no power so coast to the side of road she's still running. Well take off again, get up to speed no problem, past 60mph she start bucking and putting up a fuss. Anyway to make a long story short I turned to FTE and after much testing this, swapping that and replacing those the problem has been discovered. When I went to change the fuel filter the line from the tank was barely dribbling fuel. Blew it clear with the air hose and now have a steady stream. Went for a ride and she runs like a champ. So looks likes a tank removal/clean out is in my near future. I just want to thank all those that contributed to those threads that I read which helped me solve this problem.

This is a great site for the whole spectrum of owners, from the extreme novice as I was, all the way to the expert that just needs to bounce some ideas off the other experts on the site. I think its great that you found your particular problem and were able to solve the problem. Way to go Bill.

If you are using any rubber line that's more than a couple years old replace it with new that states on it alcohol safe or resistant. It was only recently "discovered" that today's gasahol fuels especially as alcohol % is increased, deteriorates the older type rubber hose from the inside in rather short order leading to restriction, weeping, plugged filters and premature failure. reformulated hose has only been on the market a short time.
