Great videos.

Bob must have grabbed his wifes knee instead of the shifter... got a bit distracted maybe. Looks like an awesome road for a cruise.

Josh don't make fun of my downshifting. I'd challenge anyone on this board to downshift going down hill, or uphill, with a non-synchro tranny.(Being sarcastic ) A little hill ain't nothing, but the grade and length of the hill we were going down had the added pressure of not loosing the gear and go free wheeling down the mountain. For the mountain boys in our group it might be seem like a Sunday drive but for a upper Midwesterner it brought memories of going over Pine Mountain 421 and ending up finishing the bottom third with no brake pedal. The old F-2 did a pretty good job going down and up that mountain, if I do say so my self.

Rob thanks for posting, I those videos will make for fond memories for years to come.

Josh I hope you took my reply in the vain I meant it to be, humor. Sometimes the guys who don't deal with the crash boxes don't realize they are a little more of a challenge than the synchronized trannies but I still wouldn't trade just because of the character they add to driving these old trucks.

As a member of the crashbox club, your shifting sounds fine to me.

What I noticed from the video is how quiet the inside of your cab seems to be. It sounded like you can have a conversation without yelling. I may need to work on soundproofing mine.

No sound proofing in my cab, it's noisier than it seemed in the video but again, that's the character of the truck. One noise in my cab that I know shouldn't be there is squeaky rear cab mounts, they squeak like crazy when they get wet. I've tried applying oil but that doesn't work. The old girl is plenty noisy though, and smelly, old truck smells, just the way I remember it when I was a kid and rode along with my dad, wouldn't change it.

I drove an f3 around just a little bit and i wasnt very good at downshifting that thing on level ground. Get me on the hills and i probabably would have just left it in 2nd or 3rd and been 2 hours behind everyone else. Haha.
Im hardley ever serious so i got your humor. Your truck looked great going around those corners.

Josh it was a choice of downshifting and using the little compression I have left in the old flat six or getting the brakes hot and loosing them. It happened to me in 2012 in KY, it wasn't a fun experience. Nothing like the view of a twisting mountain road, at least that what my wife tells me. When she's enjoying the view I'm usually white knuckling the steering wheel. I am deathly afraid of heights.

I'm glad Rod took the video, now I can see what the view looked like
