Drip rails for 73-79 F-100s ?
I'm getting down to the last of the body repairs on my 1979 F-100 (6 cyl).
I need to replace the rotted drip rails. I can find passenger side replacements online but not he driver side.
I read the post on how to make them but w/o a break, a shear and a shrinker I lack the ability to make a true replacement.
Any one out there know of a source for replacement drip rails.
Thanks,
Scott

You need the actual drip rails themselves that the mouldings attach to.
Ford spot welded the steel drip rails to the roof, then used paintable caulk to fill in the gaps. The caulk chips off, water seeps in, rust begins, soon spreads into the roof.
Is your truck a Regular, Super or Crew Cab?

Thanks NumberDummy - and yes, everyone sells the clip on drip rail molding.
I have a Regular cab. Based on your illustration, I need both 51700 and 51704 (but for the drivers side).
I wonder if only having the passenger side railing shown is why they make PS molding but not DS molding?
Thanks for your help. Scott

Parts catalog usually only shows right side for sheet metal and mouldings.

When I did my drip rails a couple of years ago I bought 6 RH from Dennis Carpenter, cut 3 of them apart and welded them back together as a left hand.
If you cut the curved section just right and flip it around you'll have a nearly perfect left hand curve.
This was done on my supercab, hence the reason for 6 rails.

Scottness2 thank you for the lead on the parts.
"Drip rail repair panel" D3TZ-1051704-C, is this for the R/H side of a reg cab?
And then 4 options of (Drip rail molding).
L/H Crew cab D3TZ-2551727-A
R/H crew cab D3TZ-2551726-A
L/H Reg cab D3TZ-1051727-A
R/H Reg cab D3TZ-1051726-A, is this the chrome cover or the actual drip rail since it is called a molding and not a repair panel?

What do you guys think? DC was already closed, so I will call tomorrow and ask the parts assistance folks there.

Bill,
I just wanted to say thank you for the information you provided me. I was able to get the driver side drip rail out of Nortz & Virkler Ford.
Your expertise is priceless. I have benefited from so many of your posts but I especially wanted to thank you for the drip rail lead as the average guy would not be able to find this "needle in a hay stack"!
THANK YOU!!!!! Scott
