5 speed m5od-r-2

I have had it with the ford aod auto. trans.

I have a 1989 ford e-150 econoline van that I plan to install a m5od-r2 in place of the old factory installed aod.

I have a couple of questions ;
I hope someone will know the answers !

will the m5od-r2 bolt up to my 302 ?

are the m5od-r2 transmissions bolt patters the same for the 302 & the 6 cylinder engines ?

any info on the installation of the m5od-r2 in a 1989 van with the 302 5.0 engine ?

really need any info on the above subject .

thanks !!

Keep in mind you will need the computer from the truck you get the transmission from. You have an electronic transmission, the 5 spd is not.
You will have to move the cross member, and cut a new driveshaft
Mounting the clutch pedal and slave cyl could be interesting

The bolt pattern for the 300ci (4.9), the 302ci (5.0), and the 351ci Windsor (5.8) are all the same. I would really like to get my hands on one of those M50's myself. I got real sick of the C6 automatic and tossed it 16 years ago for a Tremec SROD 4-speed O.D. and did the total conversion myself. It's a very viable automatic to manual conversion and the 3rd generation vans (1975 to 1991) are the ONLY ones where such a conversion is do-able. All you really need are the coveted, hard to find manual linkage pedals and/or hydraulics and you got it made. It's a total bolt in operation. Having done this, I would be glad to share any and all aspects of this fabulous option on these vans.

NO MORE ELECTRONICS !

I am removing all of the electronic crap from this 1989 ford van, I have just bought a new factory ford wiring diagram & plan to remove all of the wiring &replace it with new...............

the main reason for this is ti revert to a carb-& pertronics distributor-coil.

I`m very tired of my distributor module going out in the middle of the freeway out of the blue.

this van to me is like a garage find hot rod............. so I WILL REWIRE IT TOTALLY WITH EARLY MODEL TYPE WIRING .

VAN CONVERSION & new ford factory 1989 e-150 wiring dia.

yea............... the aod has got to go.

I plan to put a M5R2 in my van............ I wonder if the cross member I have will work ?

will I need to just drill some new holes to bolt it up ?
if that is all for the cross member then I got it made jack !

I knew I would have to have the drive shaft cut & re-welded.
I have an aluminum drive shaft ...... maybe I should change that to steel ?

I plan to get a proper fitting drive shaft that is made for the M5R2 & fit the 3rd. member u-joint end up to the other shaft...... or vise-versa on the aluminum drive shaft, either one will require the correct yoke to work, after that viola ! I`m on the road again...................
