Door locks, kickpanels w/pockets, a/c controls, window cranks, etc... An all aluminum/steel interior accents would be sweet, lol. What about the doors with vents in the bottom? Just block them off? My trucks never came with kick panels so theres no screw holes. But this truck is REALLY taking its toll on me....
My truck didn't have any kick panels either and I don't know if any did. I use sheet metal screws to attach to the door so a little drilling is required for install but it's a simple task. Not sure about the vents or why they have them. I'll look into it.
I believe you mentioned you're going with a black interior. I took my "wood" dash panel and used the 3m body liner spray and textured them. It applies nicely and stays on good. Plus it's black. I'll try to get some pics for you. You could also do something like a Cerakote finish although it's a pricey finish. I do plan on having a line of products for these trucks. I enjoy mine and know others want theirs to look good as well. Personally having something a little different than factory is appealing to me if it looks and works good. I know what you mean on the trucks killing you. Spent all day yesterday under the '73 Highboy working on brakes. Doing that work anymore makes me sore the next few days.
Yeah, all black but not sure how the paint will hold and if this is vinyl or plastic. Lol, I posted on OBN how I've about had it with this truck. Taking way to much out of me. But, like I said over there, I put that out of desperation and frustration. Going to put it off for a while. But those ***** do look good with the red and black. Just that lousy wood grain kills it.
No. There's a metal clip that once slides onto shaft holds it on. I use a pick and depress the spring and slide it off. I'll take a picture of what it looks like so you have an idea of the mechanism.
I've been bouncing a sheet metal dash around for a while now. Still working on the design so it'll be a while. Are you wanting a dash like what is in 70's trucks that still has a leather top? That's what I was leaning towards. I say 70's dash but I don't want to make a copy. Just using as example to get idea of your thoughts.
Your work looks really good. I like the kick panel idea. Surely keeps the doors from taking the occasional beating by someones club foot. I have a similar setup, except made from peg board for a frame and cut pile carpet for the finish. I found them in the JY and paid $5 for both sides. Someone did a good job on them.
This is answered in the FAQ subforums, maybe you should take a stroll through there....
That tells me to push the button on the switch itself, which removes the **** and the shaft. It doesn't tell me how one removes the **** from the shaft, to replace just the ****.
The small clip spoken of holds the wiper **** on, IIRC.
