After re reading this thread , something stinks here .First off , why did you not tell us about the sand in the beginning ? Second , why would the salesman own up to this ?
Third , if you are a mechanic , why are you having the work done eleswere? Fourth, If you did have sand in the fuel bowl & it made it to the injectors , they are "all "junk. And if any of the sand made it past an injector , there will be cylinder & or valve damage . Possible turbo damage too . Last ... I'll keep the last point to myself .

Dump sand in the housing , inside the filter will do it. Some is bound to get in the stand pipe .

^^^^ +1; and fifth (to add to the list in post #17), if the truck's provenance since new is known to the OP, and it's all original, how is it that it has in-tank fuel pumps? Does anyone know of any OBS PSD PCM that can operate/control in-tank fuel pumps? What sort of tank switching system would this truck have? Has anyone else here heard of such a beast?

Yuh, I had the same notion; multiple pumps get expensive.
