49 F2 Rear End - Seals/Bearings Brake Drums
Is there a good source for the seals and bearing and brake drums for the rear end in my 49 F2. It's been sitting for god only know how many years. I'm ready to finally start moving on this. Job lot did not have these components. Curious if anyone knows who would.
I was able to find just about everything else I need to get the brakes done but I don't want to do them until I'm sure the rear end won't leak at the pinion or the axles.

1 - Rich - Thanks for the tip on Randy's. I will run that down though the website only seems to list 1/2 ton rear ends for 1949 but you never know.
2 - Bill - Thank you for posting the parts blow-up diagram of the rear end. Your parts drawing differs slightly from what I have in my Shop Manual and I do not have it apart yet to confirm which drawing is correct. Assuming for a moment that it is yours, do you have the parts list that would accompany this parts diagram with the name/description for the part numbers?
While I am certain that everything will be much more clear to me once I pull out the rear end and open it up, right now I am having a difficult time identifying what might be a gasket and what may be some sort of ring or washer from the parts diagram posted above.
From what I can tell, I would like to get my hands on everything that you have mentioned as well as the 4035 Housing Gasket.
My drawing from the shop manual shows another gasket numbered 1144 at the end of the axle but I cannot figure out by looking at the drawings what exactly it would be sealing.
Thank you so much for helping me with this.

1144 not listed or pictured in the parts catalog. Look at 1001 (not in the rear axle parts list).

1948/50 F2 (D); F3 (Y); F3 Parcel Delivery (J) with Timken model 51524 rear axle, parts list #69
There are two different 1243/1244. The ones shown next to the ring & pinion are in this parts list, the ones along with 1239/1240 (axle bearings) adjacent to the 1109 hub are listed elsewhere.
Pick out the basic part numbers you want, I'll then list the parts/sources for these and other parts (brake drum, axle inner/outer bearings, 1001 axle shaft gasket, 1175 axle seals, and etc.) not shown in this parts list.
Upper pic: Exploded view of rear axle (says 1948/52, but the parts list 69 is strictly 1948/50).

1948/56 Ford Truck Parts Catalog available on a C/D from hipoparts.com. Does not have 1948/52 body parts listed.
Noted. I will get a copy. No worries on the body parts. I have that parts catalog.

Hey Texan,
I recently rebuilt the Timkin 51524 on my F3. All parts were easily available, although I changed out the pinon assembly with Chucks 4.10 conversion kit so I'm not much help there. I did just google the cup part number (48 4616), C & G has it, as well as Macs.
The hub bearings and races I got off amazon, once you dissassemble everything the bearing (and race) numbers are stamped on the part.
Here are the bearings I ordered:
Timken 359S bearing
Timken 362A race
Timken 368A bearing
Timken 362A race
I got the axle grease seal from Macs Ford - Ford Pickup Truck Rear Wheel Grease Seal - 3.60 OD - 1 Ton With 122 Wheelbase | 61-1175 - Macs Auto Parts
The gaskets I recieved from Chucks Trucks when I ordered the gear conversion kit; couldn't find them anywhere else. Can always make your own too.
The vent GLR is talking about is on your right axle tube, just to the right of diff housing. If your axle is as dirty as mine was, it's hard to see and almost looks like another rivet. It's part number 21T 4022, which was superseeded to COTT 4022-A; grab one on ebay

There are two different 4507 gaskets listed in parts list 69. One on either side of 4668 retainer- driving pinion bearing.

Let's look into getting both. Thanks for the clarification and the help.

Very good to know that someone else has done this recently. Wish I had known about you a couple of months ago when I was in Orange County for a week. I would love to have stopped by to see your F-3. Maybe next time.
I will check with Chucks about the gaskets. Thanks for the Timken bearing numbers and thanks for chiming in.
