Monroe HD to bilstein 5100?

I have some monroe HD shocks on my truck right now less than 15k on them, and I am not impressed. The truck is bouncy/jittery. takes big bumps pretty smooth but over smaller imperfections is rides strange. Seems underdamped, as though the springs are oscillating and the shock is not able to keep up. This is most prevelent over smaller bumps on the freeway, it will take the bump and quiver for 2-3 seconds. I was thinking of getting the bilsteins since everyone raves about them. just wondering if anyone else runs them on their truck? What did you go from before them and your overall experience?

Truck is an 06 4x4, CCLB 8k lbs, stock springs/no lift on 37s.

I have 99 CCSB V10 with the Bilsteins up front and they are a solid shock. In the rear I have Pro Comp ES9000's. The bilsteins are stable all the time, the pro comps are probably a bit light for our trucks. I'm not one who tows all thime but do have a full bed weekly for farmer's market runs. Eventually I will get the rears to match.

I also have the Bilstein steering damper, my truck didn't come with it so once installed the steering was a bit tighter as our road is pretty rough.

I have run many different shocks and bilsteins out perform most. I quit running monroes years ago and in past years heve run rancho, skyjacker, pro comp and zone, The 5100 is the clear winner.

You are running 37's?? Ok, do you have a steering damper? You should with those size and weight of tires.

The 5100 series shocks will work wonders on your SD. Definitely with those heavy tires. Or better yet, the 5160 series with the remote reservoir.

thanks for the replies. I knwo some people complain about the firm ride of the bilsteins, however firm is better than no control. Firm and jarring are also two different terms. Im always at a toss up between the rancho9000s simply because they are adjustable, and would be good to go full soft when off road, but I know alot of serious on/offroad guys and shops wont even sell rancho due to quality issues, this is just stuff i read and have no experience with it.
5160 with remote resi sounds awesome, however i dont need an external reservoir which is mainly used for cooling the fluid when doing high speed offroading. Yes i have just a stock replacement monroe damper. works ok, nothing special. Ther eis a pretty decent bump on the freeway i always go over, the steering wheel does jerk a bit over it.
I know a large part of my uncontrolled jittering of the truck is due to the that huge rotating mass of 37s on steel wheels. Tire is like 90 lbs on its own.
