Im trying to tell if this oil leak is from the rear main seal or the oil pan gasket. It's not pouring oil, but it's enough to have me wanting to fix it. I took this picture to see if it helps.....the oil looks to be from right in the center (I wiped it clean prior to the picture). Is there an easy way to tell other than trying the dye method?

Wipe everything clean and spray a powder aerosol like Wet N' Dry over area where you think it is leaking. Once it starts leaking again, you will easily be able to see exactly where the leak starts at.

 

Might be the valve covers too, leaking out the back side. Like he said. clean really well and check for leaks
