Project Charlee the powerstroke

Bryan is correct, I have the Super Duty OEM Bosch pump.
I've been super happy with it, the only time I have ever noticed a loss in pressure during a pull was when I forgot to change the fuel filter for two years of continuous driving.. no telling how many miles. Once I got the filters replaced and primed, it started up like brand new.
I would prefer to go with the SD OEM due to parts availability at any box store, but I am sure that the Walboro is also pretty commonly available.

Well guys, I'm under the hood of the powerstroke again.
last time I towed my trailer, my truck was making a pretty loud squeal under boost, boost was low, and egts were sky high... boost leak! I had seen soot on my block, around the manifold on #4... Must be the culprit. I put off looking into it for like a month because I haven't needed to drive the truck and I have been working on the 76 to get it road worthy. Well this weekend, I had a few extra hours so I figured I would get to the bottom of the boost leak.
I pulled the intake piping and found this...
Sucks but no big deal, I can get one from ebay or wherever.
Looking around, I found that the boost tube tap in the manifold wasn't even hand tight.. Voila! boost leak found! easy peasy. I still have the soot around the manifold so I was just standing there looking at the manifold trying to talk myself into actually pulling the thing... and then I saw this
Mother Trucker!! so that's where the rubber went....
Saved $25 off the price and free shipping by going direct through KC turbo instead of Riffraff.
I'll be doing the S300x impeller and the 6x6 KC compressor wheel, I went ahead and got the balanced assembly just to dot my Ts and cross my Is... and will be reporting back on the performance of the assembly for sure.
So yeah, looks like I have a little pet project coming up... Can't wait!

Got the new assembly in last night!! super stoked.
Initial observations:
1. Shiny (#1 because it's the most important part for making power)
2. Beefy!!! Holy crap they weren't joking when they said that impeller was beefy.
3. Excellent packaging, nothing was going to get damaged despite UPS or fedEx's best efforts.
4. Dang there are a lot of little parts that are going in this turbo
5. Can't freaking wait to get it installed
And the obligatory pictures:
I'll get a picture of the OEM assembly when I get the impeller out... the exhaust housing is seized on tight to the center cartridge... I'm soaking them in PB blaster while I'm at work, hopefully it frees up by this afternoon

I ended up going with the SP Turbo 5x5 wheel. After I tore into it, I found my turbine shaft was worn and the bearing housing was broken on one of the bolt holes(someone had it off before), so I replaced both of those too.

Dang kameron your compressor wheel was just about as bad as mine was!
Well guys it's all back together... I'll start it up tonight to see if there are any leaks and then take it for a test drive...
But before then, I ran into a few issues putting the old truck back together. First, the typical issues getting this dang turbo back in... tight spots, lots of places you have to use an open faced wrench instead of impact or ratchet... Then I came across this beauty:
Well crap. Good thing my friend Eric hooked me up with another down pipe a couple years ago that has been sitting in my spare parts pile. I had to clearance it so it wasn't rubbing on the up pipe but that was no big deal, easy peasy.
Then I needed to address the intake situation. The intermediate boot between the aluminum elbow was the one that caused all the issues, so that was not reused. I ended up cutting up an intake that Eric also gave me to complete the intake.
And just like that, everything is back together.
