Who sells the new door pull cables aside from LMC with their $15 S&H and two week freight?

New sealant on the diff cover

Differential still in good condition

Axle seals, pretty pricey at 50/ea but not much choice. I had a hard time finding the part number for these... had to bring the old one in to match.

Cleaned up ready for a new seal

Old seal, facing out (non-oil side)

Oil facing side of old seal

New seal installed!

New brake pads.

Cleaning behind the drums up

Grody...

AC condenser core... guess which one is the old one.

No wonder I couldn't get any airflow into the cab...

Yet another picture of the grossness

And now the hinges.... Here's the top one done, easy to do in the truck. Only removed the part that bolts to the door for sleeve installation.

Bottom one was more of a bear.

Dremel (same way I cut the top one out)

Cutting!!

Cut the pin

I ended up having to take the whole hinge out of the truck, so wasted time cutting that pin.

Tapping out the old sleeves

Old vs new... it was time.

Pressing in the new sleeves with vice.

Use socket to offset and allow the sleeve to bottom out.

All new ready to reinstall!

Yep! The dang AC stuff is kicking my butt though.. I can't get the drier/ac line off the compressor to not leak... I have tried at least 10 different o-rings.

I'll probably try another drier

It's been a loooong time since I have done hinge pins, but need to do them for sure.

How hard is it to get the hinges back in alignment?

Awesome work by the way!!!

Thanks Rich!

I traced the hinges with sharpie before removing. You could also just look to see where they were before you took them off, there's usually a pretty good clean/dirty line that shows where they sat.

I almost forgot, I also tried to install new door strikers, but the little nylon casing was too big and the latch wouldn't work right! I just put the old ones back in and all is well.

Go to the help board at NAPA and pick up a package of Explorer tail gate bushings. There are 4 in the package, 2 short ones and2 longer ones. The longer ones are perfect for replacing the nylon bushings on the door striker.

You reuse the bolt and the bent piece that wraps over the striker bolt.

Kameron, We can do the pins when we do my front axle seals... they came in last week so I'm ready to do them when you are!

Tom, thanks for the heads up! I'll swing by there when I have a minute to see if I can find some, and post pics of them of course. (Reps tried and denied)

Thanks, Darin! The broken handle mount seemed like two steps in the opposite direction but some stuff got done. Finally have a solid pedal when I brake... I guess when the guys that rebuilt my rear end four years ago put the brakes in, they left the adjuster all the way in so tight, it couldn't adjust... so I've been dealing with 3 whee's worth of brakes for the last four years. Scary.

Where did you source your pins and bushings from? I'm good most anytime this week for your front seals, let me know and I'll swing on over!
