1981 ford f150 engine perches size??
Hi, i am currently working on my 1981 ford f150. I have taken out the old motor and tranny. I planning to put a 351 into what was a 300. When i tried to install the engine, the perches on the engine mount would not fit. Does anyone have ideas of what engine motor or perches would fit??

If it's a 351W, which I'm assuming it is, then you need the perches from a 302/351W. The good news is you can get them from any 1980-1996 truck equipped with those two engines, since they never changed the perches. Be forewarned though, the perches aren't always bolted on like your I6 perches are (if they are like mine were). Ford liked to use a mixture of bolts and bucked rivets to hold the perches to the frame. There may be only 3 rivets, or there may be 6. It seems to vary from truck to truck. These rivets aren't fun to remove, especially in tight spaces.
If however you're swapping in a 351M/400 series motor, then you might be in a bind. The perches for a 351M/400 look almost identical to the 302/351W perches, but there is a difference. You will only be able to find these perches in a 1980-1982 truck or Bronco equipped with the 351M or 400.
Also, a side tidbit of information, unless your truck had the Super Cooling option, your radiator opening in the core support is probably way too narrow to provide full airflow to the bigger V8 radiator. You will need to open it up the rest of the way so the radiator gets maximum airflow.
